The last month has been exhausting. One month ago

The last month has been exhausting.

One month ago today, we got the devastating news that my sister-in-law passed away unexpectedly. We dropped everything, packed our bags, and spent the week grieving and being with family. I can’t believe it’s been an entire month without her.

Then, we came home—seemingly only to unpack and repack—for a week of celebration as our best friends got married with a destination wedding.

This month also included another family wedding, fall break for our daughter, multiple shows for @rayrayburnmusic, and very little time to breathe.

Oh, and we’re expecting a baby in seven weeks. Our son’s crib hasn’t even arrived yet (which is very unlike me, and I’m choosing not to freak out about it 😅).

It’s been a season of the highest highs and the lowest lows. And truthfully, I don’t think I’ve worked this little in my entire adult life.

Right now, I only have the capacity to focus on what matters most—my loved ones and serving my current clients well.

But you know what? That’s okay. Do you know why?

1️⃣ I’ve built margin into my schedule to prepare for the unexpected and ensure deadlines are met.

2️⃣ I have marketing systems—mostly SEO and referrals—that keep bringing in business even when my focus is elsewhere.

Have I been posting to social media regularly? Nope.

Did I send a single email in September? Not one.

But was I able to step away from my business when I needed to? Absolutely.

At the end of the day, that’s the goal—to build a business that lets you live a life you love and show up for the people you love. Right?

Friend, seasons like this come around—seasons where you need to step back and do the bare minimum.

So, let me ask: if you had to drop everything for a month, would your business keep running?

Truthfully, it’s been a hard year in a lot of wa

Truthfully, it’s been a hard year in a lot of ways, and it’s hard not to get caught up in and angry about that—especially while pregnant.

This week, though, my good friend @kaitlinmendozaphoto said to me, “It isn’t a coincidence that you’re having a baby at the end of the year. God knew you needed this bright spot.”

And I think she’s absolutely right.

With this in mind, I want to share a few things:

1️⃣ Thank you so, so much to our families, church family, and friends who have shown up in big ways for us over the last few weeks. Thank you for checking on us, making meals, sending DoorDash gift cards, praying, and just being there.

2️⃣ If you’ve sent me a message and I haven’t responded, I’m sorry. Honestly, keeping up with texts and DMs that aren’t work-related feels impossible right now, but I so appreciate your kindness, thoughts, and prayers.

3️⃣ If you’re a mama in the Indianapolis area, you HAVE to check out @kaitlinmendozaphoto. Not only does Kaitlin have a heart of gold, but she’s a phenomenal family and newborn photographer. I mean, she somehow managed to deliver photos like this (plus lots where you can see Baby Girl’s face)—despite my very fussy toddler, my husband who doesn’t exactly love family photos, and me choosing to wear a sweater dress in 80+ degree weather. (I fell for fake fall too hard this year . . .) She’s amazing, and I cannot recommend her enough!

There are certainly moments when I question where God is in all of this—especially with everything else going on in the world. But I also know that we live in a fallen world, God is good, He didn’t intend life to be this way, and thanks to our Savior, this is not the only life we’ll live.

Over the last couple weeks, I’ve heard God whisper again and again, “Be faithful and content even when things aren’t perfect. I’m here.”

Sharing just in case anyone else needs to hear this this week. 💗

Today is one of those days where I don’t underst

Today is one of those days where I don’t understand how people can get through life without faith.

So, so thankful for this sister-in-law of mine, the countless ways her 28 years of life influenced the world, the 13 years I’ve had the honor of calling her my baby sister, that Aunt Chlo and Baby Girl had the chance to be the best of friends, and for our people who have shown up in such big ways this week.
